A record number of speaker candidates, audience welcome.


The popular talk event TEDxTurku is organised on 17 November 2017 in Sigyn Hall, Turku. A record number of speaker candidates have applied, and the auditions will be organised on 17 March, 20 March and 7 April. The audience is most welcome to the auditions.

The TEDx event, now organised for the fourth time in Turku, presents current phenomena and themes from, for example, science, technology, and the arts. This year’s theme is ‘Not Stereotypes’. The global TEDx concept convenes experts with interesting talks on different topics. A talk can not exceed 18 minutes in length.

The auditions are open to public

The auditions for speaker candidates are organised on Friday, 17 March, and on Monday, 20 March, from 5.30 pm onwards at SparkUp Turku, Tykistökatu 4. There are 70 registered speaker candidates, some of whom will be invited to the auditions. The final speakers to the November event will be selected based on the auditions. The auditions are free and open to everyone.

– TEDxTurku has grown in popularity year by year, and this year we have had a record number of audition registrations. In the auditions the public have an excellent opportunity to hear experts talking about different, topical matters. We organise two evening auditions and welcome everyone, who is interested in science, technology, the arts, or the phenomena of the times, to join us, states the chairperson of the board of Events Turku ry., Maija Salonen.

Ticket sales begin in the spring

Most TEDxTurku events have sold out. The speakers have included such names as the previous U.S. Ambassador to Finland, Bruce Oreck, a Master of applied positive psychology, Emilia Lahti, conductor Leif Segerstam, and professor Esko Valtaoja. Almost 300 visitors are expected to attend the event this year.

TEDxTurku 2017 talk event is organised by Events Turku ry. The event is realised by volunteers, and there are several partners involved. The ticket sales open in the spring.
